How to Book a Legal Consultation in Lagos

11 August 2026 · 4 min read

Most people delay speaking to a lawyer because they do not know what the first conversation involves, how long it takes, or what it will cost. This article sets out exactly how a consultation with Legal Lounge works, from enquiry to advice.

Step one: send the enquiry. Use the contact form on this site, call the office on +234 810 008 8488, or email legalloungeada@gmail.com. Give a two or three sentence summary of the matter and say whether it is urgent. Enquiries are answered within one business day.

Step two: we confirm we can act. Before booking, we run a conflict check to confirm we do not already act for someone on the other side, and we confirm the matter falls within our practice areas. If it does not, we will tell you plainly and, where we can, point you to counsel who handles it.

Step three: choose in-person or virtual. In-person consultations are held at our office at 4 Morenikeji Street, Ikeja, Lagos, Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 6:00pm. Virtual consultations by video or telephone are available for clients outside Lagos or abroad.

Step four: prepare your documents. Bring or send in advance every document that touches the matter — the contract, the title documents, the correspondence, the court process, the police invitation. Advice given without the documents is provisional; advice given with them is actionable.

Step five: the meeting itself. You explain the facts, we ask questions, and you leave with an assessment of your position, the options available, the likely cost of each, and a recommended next step. If litigation is a realistic outcome, we will say so and estimate the timeline.

Step six: instructing us. If you decide to proceed, we issue an engagement letter setting out the scope of work, the fee arrangement and who will handle your matter. Nothing is charged beyond the consultation until you sign it.

One practical point: everything you tell us is confidential from the first enquiry, whether or not you go on to instruct us. You do not need to hold information back to protect yourself while deciding.
